you said you would let me see the
report of the deputation about Mui-tsai.
Indeed,
I think you said that there was also a report from
Hongkong which I might see.
I am so glad that you are taking an interest in
this subject. I made a speech in the House about it,
based on very carefully collected material, last year
and it would be a great thing if the Colonial Office,
under your auspices, was able to make an effective
improvement.
I am glad the Governor is coming home
and hope I may have an opportunity of hearing from
him about it.
Granted that the position of children (and especially of little girls) in the East is governed
by long oriental tradition, it is a detestable thing
that in a British colony we should not be able to make
